BROMYARD’S newest music festival will provide a feast of jazz next weekend.

The Bromyard Music Festival - Carnival of Jazz runs from noon on Friday, August 19 until 6pm on Sunday, August 21 with various sessions taking place in the Falcon Hotel.

Organised by Alan Buckley, who runs similar events in Upton, Malvern and across the Midlands, gigs will be hosted in the Broad Street-based hotel’s numerous rooms and venues, as well as outside in a marquee.

Festival organiser Mr Buckley, who will be playing with his band Sir Alan’s Hot Groovers, said preparations for the festival were going well with toilets and shower blocks already set up at the campsite and the full line-up confirmed and ready to go.

He said: “Everything is going extremely well. Lots of people like smaller festivals, but this could grow into a bigger festival if it goes well. We have to make sure we don’t lose anything this time.”

The three-day event will really get into full swing when a New Orleans-style marching parade leads through the town at 11.30am on Saturday, August 20 from outside the Crown and Sceptre pub in Sherford Street.

Experienced and novice dancers alike can take part in dancing sessions and lessons on Friday and Saturday, while a special festival service will also be held on Sunday morning at St Peter’s Church.

Weekend tickets cost £45 and camping is available from noon on Thursday, August 18 until noon on Monday, August 22 at £20 per person.
