BUSINESS owners are being offered expert advice into how they can protect their investment and business interests at a free November seminar.

Hayward Wright Chartered Accountants has assembled some of the county’s most experienced and brightest business brains to share their expertise and best practice when it comes to protecting their interests. The event, which is the second in a three-part series, will take place on November 13 from 9am to 11am at Bromsgrove Golf Club.

Award-winning solicitor Penny Raby will present at the event alongside her chartered accountant husband and colleague Mike Gordon on the key steps of protecting a family business and preparing for the future in both the UK and overseas markets.

Guests will also hear from Tom Bartley-Smith, partner and head of business services at Worcester law firm Hallmark Hume Solicitors, on what to consider when protecting a business. Mr Bartley-Smith will cover various aspects of shareholder agreements, cross-option agreements, what happens to shares if the business owner dies and what happens if partners fall out.

Alistair Hayward-Wright, managing director of Redditch-based Hayward Wright Chartered Accountants, said: “Small businesses are the backbone of the British economy but their size can also make them fragile and vulnerable in the event of owners moving on, falling out or passing away. The business world goes through constant change so business owners in the county need to make sure they are keeping up with the pace of change and crucially, ensuring their interests are protected. We have some superb speakers who will provide a vital insight into not only being successful, but staying successful.”
