STAFF at Worcester technology company Postcode Anywhere really got into the Christmas spirit when they filled 25 shoe boxes for needy children.

They were responding to the Operation Christmas Child appeal and delivered 25 boxes to Stock N Lock Self Storage Centre at Venture Business Park, Worcester.

Organised by international relief and development organisation Samaritan’s Purse, Operation Christmas Child is an initiative that distributes literally thousands of filled shoe boxes overseas. The brightly covered boxes are crammed with small gifts and then given to some of the poorest, underprivileged children at locations throughout the world.

Postcode's chief technical officer Jamie Turner said: " Operation Christmas Child is a popular giving concept embraced by young and old alike more for the reason that if a person gives a donation to a charity you never really know where that money ends up. For example the donor may be supporting a project or a campaign on a much larger scale where you’re contributing a tiny proportion towards helping an extremely worthy cause. Our team has been really excited at the prospect of children opening up their shoe boxes on Christmas morning and bringing some joy and comfort to communities who have very little to look forward to.”

Postcode Anywhere, which is based in Diglis, Worcester, gives discounted services to many major international charities including Oxfam, UNICEF and Save the Children to name but a few.
