IN a seasonal gesture of goodwill, a garden centre has donated a lorry load of trees and shrubs to make a Worcester school more colourful next summer.

Davids Nurseries of Martin Hussingtree, near Droitwich, has provided the greenery for Regency High School in Carnforth Drive, which provides for students aged between 11 and 19 with a wide range of additional educational needs.

Gardening is just one of the activities offered but it is one of the most popular among the students, as they have their own allotment area. Under the supervision of tutor Sarah Rudge, they are again set to create a garden at next year’s RHS Malvern, previously Malvern Spring Gardening Show.

Although David’s Nurseries has changed ownership recently, new proprietors the Home and Garden Group are keen to maintain its strong connections with the local community.

“All the same staff are still with us”, said manager Eddie Reid,” and we remain true to our roots as a gardeners’ garden centre."
