A UNIVERSITY student from Worcester is furthering his career through a paid internship at a social housing provider.

Nathan Ford has joined Severn Vale Housing in Gloucester after completing a three year course in graphic design and multimedia at the University of Worcester.

Darren Knight, assistant director of customer service at Severn Vale, said: "Nathan has brought real benefits to our team. He’s been developing our digital and online communications, plus he’s amazed us all with his superb graphic design skills. For example he’s used his skills to develop a new app which has gone down very well with customers.”

Helen Holmes, Mr Ford's former university lecturer, said: "It’s great to hear that Nathan has been able to demonstrate his skills as a graphic designer following his honours degree course here at The University of Worcester. We encourage all final year students to work with real clients during their final year to build their confidence and skills, with our support. For example we are currently working with the National Trust, Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Tenbury and Upton upon Severn Tourism to name just a few. In Nathan’s case this has led naturally into his paid internship and we look forward to watching his career develop over the next few years.”

Mr Ford added: “I really enjoyed creating the app and hearing such positive feedback from customers has been particularly good. I’ve been involved in a wide range of projects and activities alongside the app development, which has given me a good insight into different aspects of the organisation. I can’t wait to get stuck into my next project."
