WORCESTER's educational top shop Wise Owl Toys has outsold major retailers Hamleys, Harrods and WH Smith for the second year running.

The business in Charles Street run by husband and wife team Mark and Heather Stewart has again won the “Dobble Challenge” organised by the makers of card game Dobble.

The challenge encourages retailers to demonstrate Dobble in their store, earning a £1 bonus for every unit sold over a one year period.

For the second year in succession the biggest Dobble-sellers were Wise Owl Toys of Worcester with 915 units. This year’s total brought Wise Owl’s Dobble sales to more than 4,000 units since the game’s release less than four years ago.

Mr Stewart said: "We love the game, so demonstrating it in our store was something that came naturally to us. It’s brilliant to be rewarded by the supplier for this.”

Ben Hogg, marketing manager of Esdevium Games, UK distributors of Dobble, added: "For one store to sell so many copies of Dobble is absolutely remarkable. It’s a fantastic game and lends itself perfectly to be shown to people but we never expected one store to do so well, it’s an incredible achievement.”
