BUILDING and maintenance company Oakleaf Commercial Services has received a special award for its health and safety performance.

At Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel it was presented with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents silver award for occupational health and safety. This is based on an organisation’s occupational health and safety performance and evidence of its good health and safety management systems.

Tim Davies, health and safety manager for Oakleaf, said: “This award encourages continuous improvement in health and safety within the workplace. With our employees working in hazardous industries such as construction, manufacturing and grounds services, it is important that we have systems in place to support them. Winning this award has been a fantastic achievement for us, particularly achieving silver for our first submission.”

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, added: "The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Oakleaf Commerical Services, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.” The awards are presented in more than 20 industry sectors and recognise excellence in specialist areas.
