A WORCESTER executive has won a major award for developing teaching and learning through computer science.

Angela Davis, who is corporate social responsibility officer for PCA Predict in Diglis, has received a Technology & Innovation award in the T & I Ambassador category.

Mrs Davis, who lives in Worcester is a former student of Harry Cheshire Girls’ School, now known as Baxter College, Kidderminster, and has been given the award for promoting and encouraging computing science in education and the business community in Worcestershire.

She said: “I’m firstly shocked and secondly delighted that I’ve won this award. In all honesty I wouldn’t be accepting it without the fantastic support I receive from PCA Predict’s developer team and their enthusiasm for mentoring young people in Worcestershire. Also our schools’ engagement programme wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of teaching professionals in our catchment area that continue to go the extra mile.”

The Technology & Innovation Achievement Awards are dedicated to celebrating those individuals who play an important role in developing teaching and learning for the 21st century. The awards were created by Teach Secondary magazine, a publication dedicated to promote outstanding teaching and learning within secondary education. They recognise both teaching professionals and schools who demonstrate outstanding practice, significant innovation and exceptional creativity in the classroom.

Technology & Innovation magazine’s editor Helen Mulley said: “Judges of this year’s Technology & Innovation Awards were particularly impressed with Angela’s work raising engagement with – and confidence about – technology in schools and the wider community, as well as her contribution to setting up the PCA Predict Technology Foundation to promote and encourage computing science in education. I’m delighted to welcome her on board as our new Technology and Innovation Ambassador.”
