A WORCESTERSHIRE conference for young carers has won a national award for quality organisation.

YSS Worcestershire Young Carers Conference received two gold and a silver award at the EVCOM Clarion Awards 2015.

In April this year, Hartlebury events and communications company drp provided support and its Worcestershire studios to the YSS Worcestershire Young Carers for its annual conference. The event was organised by the young carers themselves with support from drp and attended by Princess Anne, patron of the YSS charity.

At the EVCOM awards it picked up three awards, gold for brand communication experience live event and educational/ training live event and then gaining silver in the conference live events category.

Held at London’s Seven Dials club in Covent Garden, the awards are recognised as one of the UK’s leading awards for the communication of corporate social responsibility, social and ethical debate, diversity and inclusion and those working in education, health, social welfare and charity, as well as venues, locations and suppliers all showing excellent awareness in CSR.

Katie Farr, project manager at drp, who played a key role in the execution of the conference, said: "Although the event is over, it’s left such a lasting impression on all of us at drp who worked on the project. The young carers are an inspiration to us all and winning these awards really is and should be dedicated to them, especially for all the hard work and challenges they have to face on a day to day basis. It wasn’t your typical project as it was very personal and hopefully this will help to promote the great work of YSS Worcestershire Young Carers.”

Ann Constable, who attended the awards on behalf of YSS, added: "YSS are absolutely delighted that drp have won these awards. We are extremely grateful to them for supporting our charity, and very generously giving a huge amount of time and expertise to the conference preparations. I am delighted that they have gained national recognition, amongst their peers, for their exceptional work. The films were definitely among the conference highlights, and have given us a lasting legacy too.”
