A SERIES of free workshops are being organised to show businesses how to harness the power of social media.

They are part of a Truly Social Networking event to be held by Wyre Forest District Council at its headquarters in Finepoint Way, Stourport on Severn on Wednesday, September 21. The event is aimed at both businesses in Wyre Forest and representatives of Wyre Forest District Council’s strategic partners and other agencies.

The workshops – delivered by Worcester-based consultants Coldicott Freelance Training – will take place at 8am and will be repeated at 1pm and 5pm in order to help people find time in their busy work schedules. Businesses will also have the opportunity to have an audience with council leader Marcus Hart and chief executive Ian Miller at a special session at 2pm.

In between workshops they will be able to network over coffee, meet with representatives of the council’s strategic partners, and find out about able to find out more about the council’s growing portfolio of commercial services.

Mr Hart said: “The purpose of this event is for the council and its strategic partners to meet in an informal setting and network with the local business community and other organisations in the district. We want to make sure businesses in Wyre Forest stay well ahead of the game, continue to flourish and create great employment prospects for local people. This is a chance for people to take a few hours out of their busy working schedules, meet with others and learn practical and useful skills they can take back to the workplace. We’ve already started to accept bookings and I would urge people to reserve their places on the workshops as soon as possible as they will go on a first come, first served basis. If people don’t wish to attend a workshop they are still very welcome to drop in for a coffee and chat any time between 8am and 6pm.”
