MORE than 50 local business people turned up at the first of Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce’s president’s lectures to hear a speech by award-winning leadership coach Ali Stewart.

The lecture series is a new initiative pioneered by Chamber president Andrea Borwell-Fox, commercial director of Malvern based borwell Ltd, who wanted to create a new style of event for the Chamber membership. Determined to meet the needs of every size and sector of business in the two counties, the lecture series is an opportunity for businesses to network with a new community of business leaders, to be inspired by experienced speakers and to build connections which will last beyond the events.

At the first lecture, which was held at the University of Worcester, Ali Stewart spoke about her book "Insights into Liberating Leadership", explaining her eight point plan. There was then a question and answer session to further discuss leadership ideas.

Deborah Gittoes, managing director at Arctic Circle of Hereford, said: “It has been some time since I have done any self development so the president’s lecture acted as a good refresher” Celia Felgate, director at Fresh Nous at Droitwich, added: "It was a great mix of networking and learning which sparked healthy debate about leadership styles and how to effectively manage teams.”

The second lecture in the series, “Generation Z: Communication & Engagement” by Dr David Bozward – senior lecturer in entrepreneurship & strategic lead for entrepreneurship at Worcester Business School, will be held on Thursday, March 9 at the University of Worcester.
