CONSTRUCTION has been completed on a new Worcestershire distribution centre for Specsavers.

The high-tech manufacturing centre is based in Kidderminster, and will be creating 200 new jobs in the area by 2021.

Harris Lamb oversaw the sale of an 80,000 sq ft freehold turnkey between the brand and developer Revelan in January last year.

Work at the former Romwire site on Stourport Road is now complete and Specsavers have moved in.

Simon Holloway, director of manufacturing and distribution at Specsavers said: “We needed larger premises after outgrowing our current site and the new facility will allow us to double our capacity and give us room to grow in the future.

“The new modern facilities will also allow us to provide a better working environment for our staff and a better service for our customers.”

Harris Lamb director Charles D’Auncey, who oversaw the sale, said: “The new building is made up of two industrial units covering a total of 77,000 sq ft, enabling Specsavers to expand its operations to meet growing demand.

“Specsavers is the latest company to invest in siting a distribution centre in North Worcestershire, and to have such a high profile manufacturing occupier confirming its commitment to the area is a great coup for the region.

“The design and build development has safeguarded existing jobs for the business, and Specsavers has announced its intention to create a further 200 jobs.”
