WORCESTER'S premiership rugby team for women have secured a new sponsorship deal with a local engineering company.

Worcester Valkyries has secured a new deal with engineering company adi Group, based in Birmingham.

The Valkyries play at Sixways Stadium, which is also home to Worcester Warriors men’s rugby union side, a rugby academy and various community initiatives such as England's first homeless rugby team. It also provides conferencing and events facilities for local businesses.

As part of the arrangement, adi Group’s logo is being displayed on the sleeves of the players’ shirts. Leyton Williams, head of commercial sales at Sixways Stadium, said: “It’s an exciting time for the Valkyries and we’re delighted to welcome adi Group on board as team sponsors.

“Providing top class training and playing facilities for aspiring and current international women’s rugby players is one of the objectives for the company moving forward, without the support of companies such as adi Group this wouldn’t be possible.”

Alan Lusty, CEO of adi Group, said: “Women’s rugby is only growing in popularity and we are proud to sponsor a Midlands team, which also happens to be one of the best in the country.

“Giving back to the community is at the core of adi Group’s ethos, it's always been a part of my vision to create a business that is not only successful, but also sustainable, and makes a valuable contribution to local people.”
