WORCESTER Bosch will be hosting a free event showcasing the Rory the Robot Appeal.

Robin Walker MP will be among the guests attending the event which takes place at the firm's headquarters in Cotswold Way, Warndon, on Friday, March 10.

The Rory the Robot Appeal set out to raise £300,000 for a state-of-the-art machine which will treat men with the disease, and it has already raised more than £230,000.

The machine can help support patients to suffer less pain, minimal blood loss, quicker recovery and reduced complications.

With one in eight men in the UK getting prostate cancer, and currently 2,500 men under treatment in Worcestershire, the need for the new equipment is being stressed.

The event at the boiler manufacturer, which is one of the county's biggest employers with 1,000 employed in the city, has been designed to inform representatives from Worcestershire businesses about prostate cancer and why the Rory the Robot Appeal is so crucial.

Also attending and giving their unique insights into the appeal will be Mr Paul Rajjayabun, lead urology consultant at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Trust, Zaheer Shah, consultant urologist of the county trust, and Ian Jukes, chairman of the Rory Appeal and ex-patient.

There will be a short presentation, questions, refreshments and a light lunch is being offered to those attending.

Encouraging local businesses to attend, Mr Walker said: "I am delighted to see this great Worcester business supporting this brilliant local campaign.

"The Rory the Robot appeal is raising vital funds to improve prostate cancer care in our county and deserves the support of local businesses large and small.

"It is fantastic that Worcester Bosch are hosting today's event and bringing our wonderful business community together in such a good cause."
