STAFF at a Worcester opticians have been practising their putts and steadying their swing as they prepare for a fundraising golf day in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team from Specsavers in Broad Street; Dean Taylor, contact lens assistant, Alan Richards, retail director, Mike Walker, audiology director and Yasser Zahran, lab manager, are taking on the 16-hour golf challenge on June 28 at The Raven Meadow Golf Club in Worcester.

"This is the second year running that we’ve taken on the challenge and hope to beat our fundraising target of £1,000 from last year,’ Mr Richards said.

"It’s certainly no picnic – four rounds of 18-holes - so we’re all busy putting in the time on the green and in the gym to prepare."

To support the quartet, the rest of the team at the store plan to host a raffle to drum up additional funds.

"Cancer is something that has sadly affected too many of us – either directly or through someone close to us, so raising money for Macmillan, who provide specialist cancer care, is really important,"Mr Richards added.

People are being encouraged to sponsor the team's fundraising challenge by making a donation at justgiving.com/fundraising/specsaversteam.
