Reaching out to boost trade

WORCESTERSHIRE businesses are set to benefit from an export boost thanks to an event set up by the area’s MPs.

More than a dozen embassies, including representatives from Russia, Taiwan and the United States of America, have agreed to visit the county to meet with local companies.

The export event will be held on Friday, March 30, at Worcester Bosch, Cotswold Way, Warndon, Worcester, and is the brainchild of West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin.

It aims to help give county companies a boost by trading abroad or reaching new markets. It will also present a Worcestershire welcome to embassies from countries where companies may be looking to invest in the UK economy.

The event is being backed by Worcestershire County Council and the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Local Enterprise Partnership.

Mrs Baldwin said: “The county has some amazing businesses which already put Worcestershire on the map, but it is essential that we give every business – regardless of size – a chance to export where possible. “With current problems of trading in the Eurozone it is essential that we all look further afield and many local companies don’t have the time or resources to look beyond northern Europe to trade.

“Many local companies have already confirmed their attendance and I hope many more will get in touch to book their space. Space is limited, so please get in touch immediately if you are interested in being there.”

Businesses can book a place at the event by contacting Sharon Curtis on 01684 585165.
