A WORCESTERSHIRE public relations firm has put its green fingers to good use by helping to achieve high profile media coverage for a Comic Relief-style national charity gardening initiative.
The team at Whitefoot-Forward PR, based in Hartlebury, was approached by Garden Re-Leaf Day organisers to help spread the word about the inaugural initiative in March, which aimed to get Britain back into the gardening swing while raising money for children’s hospice charity Greenfingers.
The initiative, which was supported by a range of gardening celebrities including Alan Titchmarsh, saw more than 500 garden centres, as well as industry suppliers and schools, stage hundreds of special events, grow-your-own projects, competitions and garden makeovers.
Whitefoot-Forward PR, which has wide-ranging garden industry experience, agreed to provide free-of-charge support.
This resulted in national press coverage plus a Tweet from Stephen Fry to his four million followers, cementing Garden Re-Leaf as a top trending topic in the UK that day.
Michelle Whitefoot, Whitefoot-Forward PR managing director, said: “We were delighted to be able to use our previous experience in the gardening sector to help ensure Garden Re-Leaf achieved the recognition it deserved.”
