Pupils pull together to help Haitians

PUPILS at the Downs School in Colwall are working together to help the victims of Haiti earthquake.

Children at the school's pre-prep department decided to contribute to the relief mission after a special assembly held this week.

Jill Walters, head of pre-prep, said: "The school is raising money for shelter boxes to be sent to Haiti. One of our parents, Sarah Grout, gave a very powerful assembly in which she demonstrated one of the shelter boxes and showed us all the useful things it contained.

"The pre-prep children talked among themselves and decided to have a suitcase sale, and since then, they've been emptying their bedrooms for things to sell. Their parents will be running a cake stall as well." The sale was held on Friday.
