A SCARECROW festival in Colwall will raise money for a disabled education centre this weekend.

Organisers have arranged for dozens of the colourful and outlandish characters to be situated around the village on Sunday (July 18).

Members of the public will be able to buy a route map, for £2, and then make a note of every scarecrow’s name for a chance to win a prize.

Organiser Leita Tame said: “They have been created by various people who live in and around the village. Last year somebody did an Ozzy Osbourne scarecrow one, so there’s a real mixture.”

The annual event raised more than £700 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital’s Cerebral Connections charity last year and Mrs Tame is hoping they can do the same for Megan Baker House, based in Leominster.

Megan Baker House offers free conductive education sessions to children with motor disabilities and adults with Parksinon's disease.

Route maps will be available from the Colwall Park Hotel from 2pm onwards.
