Malvern Amity Club
10:37am Wednesday 12th October 2011 in News
I DID warn you last month that we were going to see some changes to our previous way of doing things. We held the AGM last week and discussed where we would like to be going with the club. The main thing that came out of our discussions was that we were not going to continue meeting at Christchurch Hall as, rumour has it that, there are going to be changes there. And as always it is better to jump than to be pushed off the plank! So read on.
That decision is not going to make any difference to our determination to uphold the concept of Amity, but you will have to follow my ramblings periodically in this forum. Essentially we are going to do what we have always been good at and everyone enjoys, We are going to go out.
On Thursday, October 19 we will meet at Manor Farm at Lower Wick for lunch the usual noon for 12.30pm. Even if you have not joined us before come along and make new friends. We will put an extra chair or two (or more) at the table and you can introduce yourself and soon find that you have a whole bunch of new friends.
November 16 is a fixed date for you diary as we are hiring a coach to take us to the Hop Pocket, which is a garden centre with hosts of retail shops and a good restaurant. Would you please let me know if you are going to come so that I can order a coach big enough to take us all (01684 592709). We will be leaving from Christchurch at 10am returning around 3pm.
On November 30 you are all invited down here for a Cream Tea. I know its not the time of year for such but I can assure you that the scones will be fresh and hopefully you will come and enjoy it. 3pm is time for tea. Telephone me and I'll tell you how to get here as you might (probably) get lost.
Another fixed date is December 15 when we are going to the Chateau Impney for a Christmas get-together over lunch hopefully, weather permitting,we will all get there. Alan has been compiling a list for that so will you ring him to say that you are coming 575671.
We have plans to go to the panto again in January but I do not know the dates yet, hopefully the Wednesday of the week January 16-21, what a thought! I remember the snow of last year that curtailed my adventures so hope that we will not get the same this year.
The January lunch will be at the Blue Bell at Callow End on January 25 and we hope that in future we will make the monthly lunch the last Friday in the month, venue to be decided but as I said at the beginning I will let you know through this article each month.
Another suggestion was a trip to the Birmingham German Market which may be on December 7. Book it in your diary and we will check it out at lunch next time.
That should be enough to keep you going for a bit but I will update as time goes on as to what we are doing but you can always ring me or Alan to find out more.
CHRISTINE GLEDHILL.
