Bella's hot shot award
3:00pm Sunday 28th October 2012 in Ledbury
A FORMER Newent Community School student, Bella Eason Daniels, has won the Young Photographer of the Year Competition with a moving image of an old lady contemplating a picture of a much younger woman.
The winning shot was in response to the contest’s theme Looking Forward.
Bella, aged 18, and currently on her gap year to New Zealand and Australia, was no stranger to winning awards at her school, where she completed her studies as a sixth former in July.
Tracy Edwards, the school's sixth form administrator said: “We are very proud of Bella’s achievements, very much so.”
The student received three awards at the school’s recent Achievement Evening – for her English, art and graphics and for outstanding achievement for her A-levels – she gained three A*s.
Now she is the Category One winner of the Young Photographer of the Year competition.
When she returns to the UK, she will study graphic design at Leeds Metropolitan University, from the autumn of 2013.
This year, the Young Photographer of the Year Competition received a record number of entries from young people across Herefordshire and beyond, with some entries coming as far as Switzerland.
The entries, including the winning image, will be on display at Hereford College of Arts until November 23.
