A PET therapy session at a Malvern care home proved an unusual affair for residents as they came face to face with an exotic snake.

Beloved pet Brian, a female Columbian Rainbow Boa snake, was brought in for the day by Sharon Jones, a senior wellbeing worker at Friends of the Elderly’s Davenham and Bradbury Court care home in Graham Road.

Friends of the Elderly spokesman Nicola Andreasen said residents, including Mary Fairlie- Clark, pictured left, were delighted to meet Brian.

“Making a change from the regular pet therapy sessions, which usually take place with Pip the dog, they took turns to hold Brian and learned more about the species from Sharon,” she added.

Columbian Rainbow Boas are usually found in very humid tropical forests and are named due to the distinctive sheen when their scales catch the light.
