  • "Ha ha, I don't doubt it Sy.Day. It was their fault when we had the recent cold weather. In fact it was their fault when I had to queue up in the supermarket the other day, so I demand that all the highway engineers are all sacked and asked to pay back all their extortionate wages."

9am update: heavy rain warning for Worcestershire

Ledbury Reporter: DOWNPOUR: Expect rain tonight DOWNPOUR: Expect rain tonight

WORCESTERSHIRE is braced for more rain today, with the wet and unsettled weather set to continue into the weekend.

With further rain forecast to fall on already-saturated ground, the Environment Agency has said the county faces a low risk of possible flooding along the river Severn, which is still high after recent rain.

There may also be problems with surface flooding on roads.

A flood alert has been issued for Barbourne Brook, Worcester.

The agency is warning of potential significant disruption across the West Midlands as bands of rain move across England and Wales until the end of the week.

It said: "The following areas could be affected by flooding: low lying areas of farmland and caravan parks between Worcester and Tewkesbury, together with the low lying roads at Upton."

The Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for rain across the West Midlands after predicting heavy and prolonged periods of rain.

The warning means people should be aware of the potential for poor weather.

A total of 20-40mm of rain fell last night with rainfall totals of 15-20mm expected today and some areas receiving up to 40mm.
