MALVERN’S shopkeepers have pulled out all the stops to ensure visitors to the town are filled with festive spirit.

More than 20 businesses in Great Malvern, Barnards Green and Malvern Link took part in a Christmas Window competition organised by Malvern Town Council.

Shops were invited to decorate their windows to a theme of “winter wonderland” and Malvern’s mayor Ian Hopwood, as head judge, was tasked with the difficult decision of picking the winners.

The top prize for the town centre went to Brays, with Great Malvern Post Office highly commended.

In Barnards Green the winner was St Richard’s Hospice, with Jane’s Florist highly commended and in Malvern Link the top prize went to The Cut, with Floral Events highly commended.

Coun Hopwood said he was extremely impressed with the standard of entries for this year’s competition.

“There were some really good entries and overall the quality was extremely high,” he said.

“It was very difficult to decide on some of the winners.”

He added that the window displays, combined with the town’s huge Christmas tree, donated by Nick Beard of Leigh Sinton Christmas Trees, had given Malvern a truly festive feeling.

“The town looks great and we are very grateful to Nick and his team for their generous donation,”

he said.
