Trapped dog freed from drain

A DOG which became trapped in a drain under a motorway was freed by firefighters.

At about 5.30pm on Tuesday, the fire service was called by a distraught owner whose dog had disappeared whilst walking near the M50 at Bromsberrow.

A fire engine was sent out from Newent, and when the crew arrived it was clear that the dog was stuck under the motorway and could be heard barking from a manhole cover.

The Highway Agency was called in to help, and performed a rolling road block to enable firefighters to reach the manhole cover in the middle lane of the motorway safely.

The terrier dog was located and quickly rescued uninjured from the drain much to the relief of his owner.

Crews were in attendance for just over an hour dealing with the incident.
