Adam plays key role at Coronation celebrations
A MAN from Malvern played a key role in a major royal event held at Buckingham Palace.
Adam Roberts, who lives in Malvern Wells, was in charge of heath and safety for the Coronation Festival.
(July 12-14) The festival was a showcase for Royal Warrant holders, and more than 200 companies who hold the warrant exhibited their products in the palace gardens.
It included three gala concerts in the evenings, featuring performers such as Katherine Jenkins, Katie Melua, The Feeling, the National Youth Orchestra and the English National Ballet.
Mr Roberts, aged 40, who has years of experience in the field of event organisation and runs his own company, Carriber Solutions, was contacted in November about the festival.
He said: “It was very flattering to be chosen but I also knew it would mean a lot of hard work.
“When you are in charge of an event which attracts 65,000 people, it’s always a great responsibility, and it’s even more so when it’s in such a historic setting.”
He said he enjoyed the chance to see the palace gardens and their contents, including the famous Waterloo Urn, and during his work there, he saw the Queen and Prince Charles, although he did not meet them.
And although he has taken a few day’ rest after the festival closed, he is now busy on his next job – the BBC One Show’s summer festival at Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday, August 6.
