THE choir of Hereford Cathedral Choir will be broadcasting to the nation on Wednesday, September 18.
Over a quarter of a million listeners are expected to tune in to Choral Evensong at 3.30pm on BBC Radio 3, when the choir will be singing an international offering of music by Grieg, Sumsion, Brahms and Dvořák.
Director of music Geraint Bowen said: “We always look forward to these broadcasts, which now have listeners all over the world.
“A live broadcast is one of the many highlights that the choristers experience during their time in the choir. They have a fascinating day watching the setting up of the equipment, going through the various sound checks, and finally waiting for the exciting moment when the red light goes on.”
The choir makes regular broadcasts on BBC, with members having been involved in the live broadcast from the Three Choirs Festival in Gloucester in late July. However, it will not be the last time this year, as BBC Radio 4 will be broadcasting a Sunday service later in the year.
All are welcome at the service, which will last for about an hour; those attending are asked to be seated by 3.15 pm.
