A FORMER student at Hereford College of Arts, Luke George, in collaboration with Elizabeth Rose, was the winner of last year's Griffin Art Prize, and the duo are currently presenting their first solo exhibition at West London's Griffin Gallery.

The pair's work explores the beautiful and delicate rose madder pigment, providing contemporary perspectives on historical techniques and materials.

The exhibition draws attention to the complexity of creating madder pigments which take an astonishing 13 weeks to blend and perfect. Many methods have been tried and tested but no synthetic pigment has been found to match the unique beauty of genuine rose madder.

The exhibition at the Griffin Gallery, Evesham Street, London W11, runs until Friday, October 10. For further details, call 0208 424 3239.
