Newent's MP, Mark Harper, recently visited two successful local businesses.

He was joined by local Conservative campaigner Craig Lawton and met staff and customers at award winning delicatessen and farm shop Brown and Green, before paying a visit to Three Choirs Vineyard.

At Brown and Green, Mr Harper was able to see at first hand why they have picked up the prize for Garden Centre of the Year at the 2014 Farm Shop and Deli Awards. Brown and Green have also previously received awards for being the ‘Best Local Food Retailer’ at the Taste of Gloucestershire Food & Farming Awards 2011 and 2012.

Then it was on to the Three Choirs Vineyard, which offers a range of award winning English wines, real ales and ciders. With hotel accommodation, a restaurant and daily wine tasting sessions available, the business has seen significant expansion over the years.

Mr Harper said: “I was pleased to join Craig Lawton for a visit, which he arranged for me, to two impressive businesses in Newent. I enjoyed finding out about all the hard work that they've put in to achieve their success.

"In the case of Brown and Green, I was impressed with the wide range of local produce that they have on offer. Their attention to detail and passion for what they do is clear. Susie and Euan Keenan are leading a well-motivated team and I am sure they will continue to enjoy success."

He added: "Three Choirs Vineyard is a well-established business with a fine heritage. I am proud to have it in my constituency. I was interested to hear about their plans for the future."
