JEWELLERY and ornaments were stolen in a string of burglaries in Ledbury and Colwall.

The first incident took place on Biddulph Way in Ledbury between 7.40pm on September 26 and 9am on September 27, where thieves stole several porcelain figurines after forcing entry in to a house.

On September 27 between 6pm and 11.45pm a second house was broken into in the same street and a large quantity of jewellery was stolen along with some brass figures.

There was also a burglary on Bank Crescent in Ledbury, between 3pm on October 19 and 12.45pm on October 23 where jewellery was taken and between 3pm on October 19 and 11am on October 20 offenders forced entry to a property in Colwall and stole jewellery.

Detective constable Laurence James said: "I would like to reassure the communities of Ledbury and Colwall that Herefordshire is still one of the safest areas to live in the country, which on the whole has a low percentage of dwelling burglaries.

"Please don’t be afraid to call police with anyone acting suspiciously in your area. The police would rather the public call than not. They are the eyes and ears in their community and play a vital part in any investigation. Don’t leave it to someone else to call."
