THE owner of a Hereford cider giant has been banned from selling its drinks at a well-known pub chain.

Wetherspoon’s has said it will no longer sell Heineken products, including Herefordshire’s own Strongbow cider produced by Bulmers, at any of its 900 UK pubs, including the Kings Fee in Commercial Road, Hereford, the Mail Rooms, Ross-on-Wye, and the Duke’s Head in Leominster.

Heineken owns the Hereford cider plant in Whitecross and the Ledbury cider mill on Little Marcle Lane.

The withdrawal follows a row between Wetherspoon’s and Dutch brewer Heineken over pricing in Ireland.

The argument means John Smith’s bitter and Foster’s lager are also off Wetherspoon’s UK menu.
