FOOD writer Prue Leith CBE took time out on her recent visit to Hereford to present the first winner of Herefordshire and Ludlow College's Cook Off competition with their trophy.
Vicky Preece took the title after impressing judges with her pan-fried cod.
As a cook, restaurateur, food writer, TV presenter, businesswoman and tireless charity worker, Ms Leith, who was in Hereford to promote her autobiography, Relish: My Life on a Plate, has played a key role in the revolution in Britain’s eating habits since the 1960s.
And she has been on the panel of the Great British Menu since it started in 2006.
Vicky took the prize, which also includes a four-week work experience placement at Castle House, with her menu of cod with textures of cauliflower and almonds; spiced belly pork, celeriac purée and heritage carrots; and popcorn parfait, raspberry bonbon and coulis.
Runner-up Emily Pearce was congratulated on her sugar-free pistachio and raspberry cheesecake, and was presented with a copy of Prue Leith's autobiography.
