THIRTEEN-year-old Lottie Oliver will definitely remember the day she became a teenager.

When she could have been blowing out the candles on her cake, Lottie, who lives at Lyonshall, chose to have her long, flowing hair chopped off – but for a very good reason.

Stylists at Hairport in Kington granted Lottie’s wish, to exchange her lovely locks for a smart elfine cut. Now the teenager will be donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust to be made into a child’s wig.

Lottie’s mum, Lucie explained why her daughter decided on the dramatic action on her birthday.

“Lottie was motivated by a family friend of a similar age who was treated – successfully – for leukaemia a couple of years ago,” said Lucie. “While undergoing the treatment, she also had to cope with losing her hair.”

Her daughter’s determination to help has raised £400 in sponsorships which will buy at least one other wig for a child suffering hair loss due to illness.
