A HEREFORD dancer is bringing his skills back to the county in a bid to inspire young people here to choose a career in dance and the arts.

Daniel Ovel is behind the launch of a new community dance class project with his Dirty Feet Dance Company, with classes for children aged three and above.

The 26-year-old has been a professional dancer for more than 10 years, having started his career in Hereford as a break-dancer for 2Faced Dance Company before moving to Leeds to study at Northern School of Contemporary Dance (NSCD).

He later toured the UK and Europe with a number of different professional dance companies including Shaun Parker, Joon, Trash Dolly’s and Pair.

"I've travelled a lot working with many companies but it's now time to bring what I've learnt back to where it all started for me and hopefully inspire more young people to go on to working in dance and the arts," he said.

"People should expect a fun, high-energy movement class with a mixture of free running, break-dance, contemporary and street dance."

The classes take place on Tuesday evenings at the Kindle Centre in Hereford.

It is also hoped that there will be a summer school which will see five teachers each teaching their skills in hip hop arts, breakdance, DJ, rap, graffiti and film.

Classes start tonight.
