A SUPPORT group to help Syrian refugees will have its first meeting in Ledbury next week.
The first meeting of Ledbury Refugee Support will take place upstairs at Handley Organics in the High Street, at 7pm, on Thursday September 10, and everyone will be welcome to attend.
Group member, Richard Hadley said: "This is about getting people together who really want to help. Let's not get depressed; let's do something.
"We are a little town in the country, but we really care. In fact, I know loads of people who would be willing take in a family for respite."
Mr Hadley accepted that this might not be possible.
But the group will appeal for money donations, blankets, soft toys and sanitary products, "all the things we take for granted, when the refugees have nothing".
He added: "I know people are concerned about immigration, but this is nothing to do with immigration."
