THE timetable of events has been released for the Herefordshire Festival of Sport.

A weekend of fun activities are promised for all across September 19 and 20 on Hereford's King George V playing fields.

People can also learn more about wellbeing, mental health in the community and self management through sport.

The Hereford Times backed event starts on the Saturday at 7am with a 100 mile bike race as part of the Ride Herefordshire Sportive.

Then, at 8.30am, the 50 mile race starts, while a 25-mile event begins at 9.30am and a mini sportive from 11.30am.

Meanwhile, the professional race starts at 2pm. The Hitter Road Race is a top-level cycle competition organised by Hereford's NFTO team and will challenge some of the best teams and riders in the country with 148km through Herefordshire countryside.

There is also a sports activity zone which includes badminton and football, a young people zone, wellbeing activities throughout the day including tai chi and yoga, and local bands playing. These all open at 9.30am and run through until 5pm.

On the Sunday the focus is on running – the marathon starts at 9am, the half marathon at 10.30am, the 10k at 11.30am and the mini marathon at 1pm.

Again the sports activity, young people and wellbeing zones open at 9.30am with live music throughout the day.

And at 2pm an attempt will be made to set a Guinness World Record by taking the most selfie photos in one hour.

This record links to the festival's mental health campaign as organisers would like everyone who has a photo taken to have their thumbs up in the photo to support the #thumbsupforwellbeing campaign for Herefordshire Mind.

If you would like to join in email becky.loader@herefordshire-mind.org.uk for more information or head to the podium area at the festival village park at 1.45pm.

The prize presentation is at 3pm, followed by the closing ceremony at 3.30pm.

The festival village is free for the whole community to attend, participate and enjoy.

If people would like to make a contribution to the village across the weekend, donations to Herefordshire Mind will also be gratefully received.
