THE LEDBURY Poetry Festival is setting up what it calls "monthly poetry salons", with the first one set to take place this week.

The format will be a live reading from a featured poet and the second half will be readings from members of the audience, as arranged beforehand.

Festival director, Chloe Garner said: "These slots are open to all and are a chance to share your poems in an intimate setting with a supportive audience.

"We welcome experienced writers and those starting to read their poetry. Hopefully through these ‘poetry salons’ we can build a supportive community of writers and listeners in Ledbury all year round, as well as during the Ledbury Poetry Festival."

First up, for National Poetry Day on Thursday, October 8, will be the Herefordshire poet in residence, Adam Horovitz.

The venue will be the Panelled Room of the Master's House, from 7pm to 9pm and entrance will be £5, to include a drink.

On Tuesday November 10, Carrie Etter will be reading her poems.

Anyone interested in giving a reading should email, director@poetry-festival.co.uk or phone 01531634156.
