AN annual pancake race went ahead in Ross-on-Wye this year, despite last year's organisers stepping back from the action.

The event in the centre of the town is usually run by the Association of Ross Traders (ART) but they decided not to run any events this year.

Town councillor Hannah Lerego decided to organise it on behalf of ART, with the help of the Ross foyer of The Herefordshire Supported Housing For Young People Project (SHYPP).

Cllr Lerego said: "I was delighted and very impressed with the support from the residents of the Ross foyer, in particular Georgia, Olivia, Lauren and Tom."

The youngsters organised a bake sale at the event, which was the seventh pancake races to take place in the town.

The money raised will go towards redecorating the community room for residents at the Ross foyer. There was also an anonymous donation of an Xbox.

Cllr Lerego thanked the Ross Rotary Club for providing stewards.

The Association of Ross Traders said it was unable to run the popular race in the centre of town this year.

So Hannah Lerego has volunteered to run it on their behalf, along with The Herefordshire Supported Housing For Young People Project (SHYPP).

The race will go ahead on Tuesday, February 9 at 2.30pm from the Market House.

There will races for toddlers, adults, businesses, sports teams and schools.

If anyone would like to volunteer to help run the event contact Cllr Lerego on cllrhlerego@outlook.com.
