ANIMALS of all shapes and sizes will be pulling their best poses at one of Herefordshire’s major shows .

Artist Elspeth Gelling will be offering pet owners the chance of a ‘pet portrait’ at Weobley’s popular art exhibition in the Hopelands Hall from Saturday, August 27 to Monday, August 29.

The event, launched back in 1985, runs from 10am to 5pm each day.

“It’s still going strong,” said organ-iser Jo Ware. “People come from far and wide for the show.

“We have more than 55 artists and up to 300 pieces of artwork. We have all mediums and a number of new techniques will be featured including stained glass and embroidery.”

A number of Weobley’s regular art class students will be showing work, and the exhibition will also include professional sketches and paintings.

Throughout the show, painter Marina Morris will be working at her easel and showing her work, while Elspeth Gelling will be on hand to produce sketches of beloved animals.

However, the artist asks only for a clear photograph, and not necessarily the pet in question to be present.

Fresh from appearing on the One Show spotlight – filmed live in Weobley earlier this month – Pru Lloyd and her team of helpers will be providing light lunches.
