THE John Masefield High School Chamber Choir has beaten off strong national competition be invited to perform live at a top educational conference, in December.

The choir will sing in front of several thousand delegates at this years National SSAT Schools Conference, which will be held in Birmingham.

A school spokesman said :"Students were chosen to perform after submitting a video performance of Adiemus by Karl Jenkins, which is a major coup for the school given the outstanding field they were up against.

"This is a wonderful advert for Ledbury and provides an opportunity to promote the school and town to a national audience."

The spokesman added: "The students were absolutely thrilled and honoured to be chosen and are very much looking forward to this exciting occasion. Performing Arts goes from strength to strength at JMHS and this is the latest in a line of honours such as winning the Elgar Music award two years in a row, and the choir winning Senior Choir of the year at Herefordshire Performing Arts Festival."

Head of Performing Arts, Sam Goldup added: "This is testament to the hard work and passion the students have shown. They are a talented group, aged 11 to 18 who are extremely supportive of one another and have continued to develop their individual and collective talents. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and for this recognition'.
