STAFF from Malvern-based contractor Speller Metcalfe came to the rescue when a car got into trouble in Ledbury Swimming Pool's car park.

The incident happened on Monday when a driver accidentally reversed his car into a ditch and was unable to get out of his vehicle.

Sophie Turner of Speller Metcalfe said: "Our site manager became aware of the situation as the gentleman beeped his horn and flashed his lights for attention.

"Our site team used a fork lift to pull the car out of the ditch and checked that the gentleman was physically unharmed. Fortunately he didn’t face any injuries but he was understandably shook up."

Speller Metcalfe is currently carrying out a £2.3 million makeover at the pool, which will see the gym and exercise studio upgraded and extended, the reception and changing facilities given a makeover and a new sauna and steam room built.
