A TWELVE-year-old girl from Hereford raised more than £1,000 for a county charity through a sponsored haircut.

Evi Hudson, a pupil at Aylestone School, raised the cash for the Yeleni Therapy and Support Centre and donated nine inches of her long her to the Little Princess Trust, also based in Hereford, at the same time.

It is the second time she has cut her hair for charity .

Funds were donated by Evi's family, pupils and staff at Aylestone School and St Thomas Cantilupe School as well as members of the Hereford Cathedral congregation, family, friends and clients at Yeleni.

Her hair was cut at Longhorn Hairdressers in Hereford.

Their generous donations will allow three people who are living with any cancer at any stage to benefit from nine free complementary therapy sessions each at the charity's Blackfriars Street centre, to better help them cope with the rigours of cancer and its treatment.

Mrs Heath said: "I am particularly heartened and encouraged that Evi’s peers wanted to support the charity. Young people have a huge part to play in the future success of charities, both through fund raising and promoting the name and invaluable work of unique charities like Yeleni Therapy and Support. Well done and thank you Evi.”
