FOODIES will be spoilt for choice this weekend with two festivals celebrating the best of Herefordshire's food and drink taking place.

The Shobdon Food and Flying Festival will provide a feast of food and entertainment as well as some spectacular aerodynamics in the skies while Hereford Food Festival showcases live music, masterclasses as well as producers.

Both events run all weekend – on Saturday, July 1 and Sunday, July 2.

In Shobdon, organisers are promising a great line-up of aviation attractions with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight performing two flypasts on the Sunday, and a host of vintage aircraft expected at the historic WW2 airfield during the weekend.

Simulators, trial flights, gliders, helicopter rides plus guided tours of classic aircraft add to what has become one of the county’s premier events.

Coming back to earth, the festival’s food side will feature 50 of the region’s finest producers with flavours from Japan, Thailand, Spain, Italy and the very best Herefordshire has to offer, plus a packed arts and crafts marquee. There will also be classic cars and live music.

Meanwhile, local family-run business, Big Bull Events, are behind the Hereford Food Festival which takes place at the city's racecourse.

As well as food and drink stalls, there will also be live music throughout the weekend, masterclasses by chefs, butchers and bakers, and between 80 and 100 producers selling their goods.

They are also providing a Kids Village and will be also raising money for three charities – The Army Benevolent Fund, The Little Princess Trust and a Haven - Breast Cancer Care.

Entry costs £7 for adults, £3.50 for children aged five to 16 and is free for under fives.
