A FILM of a railway line which is no longer used has been discovered in an attic.

The film focuses on the 1873 opening of the Ross-on-Wye to Monmouth branch railway line and is a Borderlines film made in 2000 featuring railway enthusiast and artist, Jerry Whitehouse.

It looks back at the history of the railway line and shows stunning aerial views of Ross, The Wye Valley, Goodrich Castle and Symonds Yat.

The footage includes interviews with people who could remember travelling on the trains, including Eric Rawlings, who spent his life trying to bring the railway back to Ross.

The film was given to Matt Healey by a work colleague, who found it in an attic, and he has uploaded it to his YouTube channel where he uploads archive Hereford footage.

If anybody has any old Herefordshire VHS footage, Matt is happy to convert it for them. You can contact him at www.youtube.com/djmatthealey.
