DEVOTED Pendock couple Arthur and Rosemary Hill enjoyed a meal with their family as they celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary yesterday (Thursday).

The couple met in 1949 in Pensax, near Tenbury Wells, where Mrs Hill had grown up and her husband- to-be had just moved for a new job in the farming industry.

They married at Pensax Church in 1952 and came to Pendock in 1961, where they have remained happily since.

Mr Hill had to give up the farming trade after injuring his back but went on to enjoy a career working as an optical engineer at an opticians in Gloucester. Mrs Hill concentrated on raising their four children, Helen Jim, Rose and Dianne.

The couple, who also have eight grandchildren and one great grandchild, describe their family as their “pride and joy” and are planning a bigger celebration with them later in the year.

Mrs Hill said they were both very proud to have reached 60 years of marriage, and attributed it to always being there for each other.

“Whatever happens, the highs and the lows, we share it and are there for each other, and always will be,” she said.
