Get snapping to mark the Jubilee
10:20am Saturday 9th June 2012 in Ledbury
LEDBURY photographers of all ages are being asked to get snap happy for a town competition to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.
Winning images will not only form part of a public exhibition in the Market House on Saturday, June 30, but the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will see them when they pay an official visit to Hereford on Wednesday, July 11.
Ledbury has been allocated its own marquee on the King George V playing fields, and the Ledbury marquee will be the first one to be visited by the Queen.
Deputy town clerk Diane Baldwin said that the theme inside the marquee would be The Best of Ledbury, including the photographic display.
Would-be winners must seek out the best of Ledbury over the jubilee weekend to photograph.
There will be three categories, including under-11s; 12-17, and 18 and over. Jubilee coins will be awarded for first, second and third prizes, and the overall winner will get a limited edition Royal Worcester Jubilee tea caddy.
In total, the town council has spent more than £700 on prizes.
Judges willl include Mayor Phill Bettington and Councillor Martin Eager, who is a keen photographer.
Entry forms and further details are available from the town council offices.
