A TRAIN has hit an object on the line between Worcester and Hereford.

The British Transport Police confirmed the 3.22pm First Great Western service from Great Malvern to London Paddington struck the object at 3.41pm near Sling Lane in Malvern.

The train was damaged, but did not derail and First Great Western said no-one on board the train was hurt.


The object has now been removed.

A BTP spokesman said: "An investigation is under way to discover how the object came to be on the railway line and whether it had been placed there deliberately."

Update 6.14pm: A spokesman for First Great Western said they expect delays to continue for the rest of today and normal service will be resumed tomorrow.
