Bid to reopen village pub

COMMUNITY action could lead to a public meeting on the reopening of the Farmer’s Arms pub at Wellington Heath.

An action group of locals is in talks with the owners of the village’s only pub, Enterprise Inns, to see what might be done.

The pub closed in July, but the group is seeking its reopening as soon as possible, with a new landlord.

Their hope is to make it a hub of community life.

Group spokesman Richard Lee-Buxton said: “At the moment, the ball is in Enterprise Inns’ court, but the communication channels are open.

“At an appropriate time we may call a village meeting to discuss any options available.”

Meanwhile, the group is seeking the views and support of local people, on 01531 633230.
