Knit our soldiers cosy hats

A SCHOOL in Bromyard is calling for the community to join its staff and students in knitting hats for troops in Afghanistan.

Queen Elizabeth Humanities College is taking the lead from an initiative from the Pins and Needles wool shop in Barbourne Road, Worcester, and co-ordinating the town’s response.

The knitting patterns can be collected from the school reception once pupils return on Tuesday and completed hats should be brought into the school by the end of September so they can be delivered to the shop in time for the Afghan winter.

Assistant Headteacher, David Kemp said: “This is a really worthwhile venture which the school is happy to help with.

“Already a number of knitting patterns have been given out to residents in the town and once we are back at school we will send out a letter encouraging all family members to join in. Everyone I have spoken to so far is keen to get involved.”
