£50,000 is available for youths

YOUTH groups in Newent are being invited to apply for a share of a £50,000 council funding pot.

The cash is from Gloucestershire County Council and all applications will be decided by the Forest Youth Forum, ensuring young people themselves have the final say on where the money should go.

The same amount was handed out last year, with 19 organisations and about 1,300 young people benefiting.

Councillor Terry Hale, cabinet member for community at Forest of Dean District Council, said: “We would like to encourage applications from informal groups as well as established organisations.”

Groups can apply for a maximum of £5,000. The closing date is October 22. For more details visit fdean.gov.uk.
